European Ladies Golf Cup from Thu, April 03, 2008 to Sun, April 06, 2008 |
La Sella Golf Resort in Alicante, Spain
PAR 72, 4 Rounds
This is a Team-Event in which Nora is representing Switzerland together with Frederique Seeholzer.
Background:
The inaugural VCI European Ladies Golf Cup features four balls on days one and three, with The Valencian Cup Format, a variation on greensomes to be played on days two and four.
The Valencian Cup Format is where two competitors play as partners. On playing a par 3 hole, each partner will lay one stroke from the teeing ground and one ball in play will be selected by the side. This ball will be played alternately until it is holed according to the foursome format and rules of golf.
On playing a par 4 hole, each partner will play one stroke from the teeing ground. Each player will then play her partners ball for their second stroke. The side will then select the most advantageous ball in play and this ball will be played alternately until it is holed according to the foursome format and rules of golf.
On playing a par five hole each player plays her tee shot, each player then plays her partners ball for the second shot, and players then play the ball played by their partner for the third shot.
The most advantageous ball in play is then played alternately until the ball is holed according to the foursome format and rules of golf. Penalty strokes do not affect the order of play.

The 20 teams played again the Valencian Format today and Nora and Fred had fun out there
It was not so different to the other days it just worked today within the team and this is the important thing in a team competition. For Nora it has been a long time ago since she has played a team competition and thats why she was looking forward to that event for quite some time now. At the end it was the perfect preparation for her first LET event in a week and Nora is quite confident.
A disappointing 74 (+2) for the Swiss Team in the four ball again
"We played not to bad" Nora said after her round "but we just missed the Birdies and tied the bad shot at the same holes!" An this is what you don't need four a low round in a four ball format at all. At the end the +2 was a good score with a -1 score for the back nine holes. The last round is in the Valencia Format again and the target is to move up the leader board quite a bit.
A 75 (+3) but Nora and Frederique are in the mix
With very strong winds today the Valencia Format (read more with the details of the tournament) was a real challenge and they started great into that day with two early birdies. At the end some Bogies came up but both ladies have lots of fun out there representing Switzerland having said that the will go low today in the four ball again.
A steady 69 (-3) with 6 Birdies and 3 Bogies
At the end, it was solid Golf for the two Swiss girls and Nora was quite happy with her personal performance. Yet both players said that 3 bogies are too much for a four ball where the better result of the two team mates counts each hole. Switzerland is on 9th place with this performance after round one. Round two will be played in the "Valencian Cup Format" which is a quite complicated team game (find more about this format under "Tournament Details").
Nora and Frederique Seeholzer play for Swiss honour
Before the LET Season begins for Nora, she starts together with her Swiss friend Frederique Seeholzer at the European Ladies Golf Cup at La Sella Resort in Spain. It has been Nora's first Team event since some time and she is looking forward to it. To be able to play for Switzerland again makes her very proud. |
